The Smiths Medical 3260 ViaValve Safety I.V. Catheter is a medical device designed to provide safe and effective intravenous access. This catheter features a straight hub in blue color and is radiopaque, which makes it visible under X-ray. It is a 22-gauge catheter with a length of 1 inch and is made of polyurethane material.
The ViaValve Safety I.V. Catheter offers blood control, which helps reduce the risk of blood exposure and contamination. This is achieved through a unique valve inside the catheter hub that impedes blood flow from the patient’s vein upon initial venipuncture. This feature helps prevent the transfer of bloodborne pathogens from patient to caregiver on soiled gloves, clothing, bedding, and dressings.
In addition, the ViaValve Safety I.V. Catheter also helps prevent unintended needlesticks. Its safety guard surrounds the retracted introducer needle and produces a click to indicate that the needle is contained for handling and disposal.
This catheter comes in a box of 50 units, and each unit is individually packaged for sterility. It is ideal for use in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings where intravenous access is required.
