The BD 405140 is a 25G x 5″ Whitacre Anesthesia Spinal Pencil Long Needle. It is designed for spinal anesthesia or diagnostic puncture of the spinal canal. The needle’s Quincke tip with double bevel enables atraumatic puncture of the dura and minimizes the risk of post-spinal headache.
This needle is designed to spread the dural fibers and help reduce the occurrence of post dural puncture headache. It yields a distinct pop as the pencil point penetrates the dura. The precision-formed side hole helps directional flow of anesthetic agents and helps reduce the possibility of straddling the dura. It also features a unique translucent window hub that allows visualization of CSF.
