The Deroyal 46-IV20 ALGIDEX AG + I.V. Patch Dressings is a sterile patch of polyurethane foam coated with an ionic silver alginate and maltodextrin matrix. It contains silver that is evenly distributed in the ionic state. The dressing provides a sustained antimicrobial activity in the dressing for up to seven (7) days against a broad spectrum of microbial organisms.
The dressing is designed to provide a quick and sustained antimicrobial barrier against a broad spectrum of microbial organisms for up to seven days, reducing bacterial colonization associated with catheter related infections. It absorbs moisture around the catheter insertion site and has a silver side that is wound facing with a gentle, non-adherent foam backing.
This patch is intended to manage exudating wounds, including abrasions and lacerations, dermal wounds, donor sites, first- and second-degree burns, surgical incisions, vascular access sites, pressure ulcers stave I-IV, stasis ulcers, and venous ulcers.
However, it should not be used on patients with known sensitivity to alginates or on patients with sensitivity to silver or silver compounds, on third degree burns, ulcers resulting from infections, lesions in patients with active vasculitis, and it should not be surgically implanted.
The patch may be applied immediately following initial catheter placement or during routine catheter dressing change. It should be applied with the silver matrix touching the catheter and skin, and secured in place with a retention dressing such as gauze, transparent film, or tape. The patch may be worn up to seven (7) days. To remove, simply lift the Algidex Ag I.V. Patch from the catheter and discard according to institutional policy.
The product comes in a pack of 5 and a case of 50, with each patch having a 3/4″ disc with a 2 mm opening.
