The Deroyal 46-IV32 is a sterile Algidex Ag I.V. Patch Dressing that measures 1″ in diameter with a 4mm opening. It features a polyurethane foam coated with an ionic silver alginate and maltodextrin matrix. The silver in the dressing is evenly distributed in an ionic state, providing a sustained antimicrobial activity for up to seven days against a broad spectrum of microbial organisms.
This dressing is designed to reduce bacterial colonization associated with catheter-related infections and absorbs moisture around the catheter insertion site. The silver side of the dressing is wound-facing and has a gentle, non-adherent foam backing.
The Algidex Ag I.V. Patch is intended for managing exudating wounds, including abrasions, lacerations, dermal wounds, donor sites, first- and second-degree burns, surgical incisions, vascular access sites, pressure ulcers stages I-IV, stasis ulcers, and venous ulcers.
Please note that this dressing should not be used on patients with known sensitivity to alginates or on patients with sensitivity to silver or silver compounds. It should also not be used on third-degree burns, ulcers resulting from infections, lesions in patients with active vasculitis, and should not be surgically implanted.
The dressing may be applied immediately following initial catheter placement or during a routine catheter dressing change. It should be applied with the silver matrix touching the catheter and skin, and secured in place with a retention dressing such as gauze, transparent film, or tape. The patch may be worn for up to seven days. To remove, simply lift the Algidex Ag I.V. Patch from the catheter and discard according to institutional policy.
