The Deroyal 46-IV375 is a sterile patch of polyurethane foam coated with an ionic silver alginate and maltodextrin matrix. It is designed to provide a sustained antimicrobial activity in the dressing for up to seven days against a broad spectrum of microbial organisms. This Algidex Ag I.V. Patch is perfect for managing exudating wounds, including abrasions, lacerations, dermal wounds, donor sites, first- and second-degree burns, surgical incisions, vascular access sites, pressure ulcers stage I-IV, stasis ulcers, and venous ulcers.
The patch is 1 1/2″ in diameter with a 7 mm opening. It provides a quick and sustained antimicrobial barrier against a broad spectrum of microbial organisms for up to seven days, helping to reduce bacterial colonization associated with catheter-related infections. The patch also absorbs moisture around the catheter insertion site, and its silver side is wound-facing with a gentle, non-adherent foam backing.
Please note that this patch should not be used on patients with known sensitivity to alginates or on patients with sensitivity to silver or silver compounds, on third-degree burns, ulcers resulting from infections, lesions in patients with active vasculitis, and it should not be surgically implanted.
The patch may be applied immediately following initial catheter placement or during a routine catheter dressing change. To use, apply the Algidex Ag I.V. Patch with the silver matrix touching the catheter and skin, then secure the patch in place with a retention dressing such as gauze, transparent film, or tape. The patch may be worn for up to seven days. To remove, simply lift the Algidex Ag I.V. Patch from the catheter and discard according to institutional policy. This product comes in a box of 5 and a case of 50.
